Supply Chain Operations Manager – European Central Distribution Center (m/f) Job in Osnabrück
The European Central Distribution Centre, situated near Osnabrück, Germany, will be the key European warehouse for adidas Group, responsible for deliveries to all Europe for our major brands including adidas and Reebok and through all sales channels including wholesale, Retail and E Commerce.
The Supply Chain Operations Manager will convert all Brands/ sales channels commercial requirements into operational plans and control DC flows through WMS to meet or exceed customer expectations.
They will be required to:
- Develop new strategies and ways of working through the DC to maximise efficiency and productivity; and
- Ensure inventory control facilitates an efficient DC operation whilst maintaining the highest level of system integrity
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of nearly 40 staff covering the areas of Forecasting, Wave Planning, Inventory Control, Inbound and Outbound planning, as well as management of master data and other key system controls.
- Review forecasts from Business Units and ensure operational plans set to achieve on time delivery of all Customer orders. Ongoing, review performance against such plans taking corrective action where required to meet targets.
- Maintain a good understanding of the Warehouse Management System (Manhattan) and ensure team are properly trained and focused to utilize system functionality to the maximum. Where system improvements identified, get budget allocation for required changes.
- Work closely with DC Operations Manager / other key managers to achieve service levels whilst achieving all productivity targets and cost budgets for the DC.
- Lead the Inventory management team of the DC to ensure:
- System utilizes DC storage locations for inventory in the most effective way for high productivity and good capacity management.
- Regular reviews of old inventory are carried out, highlighting slow movers to Business Units for action.
- Drive efficient stock control processes through the DC ensuring accuracy at all times across systems. Also ensure there is a planned perpetual inventory program in place.
- Value Added Services (e.g. pre retailing of Products): Ensure there are good controls in place for the detailing/ updating of all Customer requirements and for the appropriate knowledge sharing and training of such requirements for VAS to all relevant staff .
- Set rules for Inbound and outbound scheduling and agree with Stakeholders, to be aligned to the Groups overall Strategic Business Plans. Review Inbound and Outbound scheduling plans ensuring deliveries are prioritized in accordance with agreed rules and to drive the most efficient use of transportation to and from the DC.
Key Relationships:
- Key internal contacts covering all flows out of European CDC especially Sales Management of all Business Units supported, key managers from other Operations departments, IT management.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Highly numerate and analytical
- IT literate at an advanced level, all MS Packages
- Experience in a key management position within a highly automated, major distribution center with major flows across many markets, achieving high standards of service and efficiency.
- Management of significant 3rd party distribution contracts.
- Understanding of SAP AFS computer system and key interfaces with warehouse management systems.
- Understanding of Manhattan warehouse system would be an advantage
- Experience with dealing with senior business management from all European markets and important Customer relationships.
- Number of years of management experience
- Project management skills
- Good understanding of customers (including retail store and E Commerce) needs
- Fluent in German and English languages both written and verbal
- Other European languages would be an advantage
Requisite Education and Experience/Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Institute of Logistics qualifications or equivalent
- At least 5 years of relevant Management experience
