Support Analyst

Location: Essex

Salary: £25,000

My client is a well established building society with branches in over 20 locations. They are currently expanding their support area and are looking for Support Analysts to join their team.

The successful candidate will carry out support, administration, maintenance and configuration of all applications and operating system software, hardware and telecoms equipment so as to ensure availability and reliability of IT systems and comms at the Building Society in accordance with agreed business and operating plans.

Responsibilities:

• Service Desk Support - Responding directly to IT Help Desk calls, to interpreting queries and diagnosing problems and incidents.
• To provide technical support and advice to IS Manager as required. To act as focal point during absences of IS Manager for wider business.
• Liaison with 3rd parties to oversee work done, including 3rd line support, installation and implementation of infrastructure components.
• To install and configure desktop, server and client applications software, operating system, including Windows NT Workstation, with the background knowledge, including the hardware requirements, methods of installation and configuration.
• To monitor system performance and optimize performance using available tools, identifying and resolving basic networking faults.
• To operate and perform administration of the Sun Solaris System
• To perform administration functions and reporting procedures relating to the Summit Customer database, and ensure the timely production and processing of regular reports
• To create or amend special reports using Oracle/SQL Data Query upon request from users.
• Review Business Processes ongoing, making recommendation to the IS Manager to make best use of systems
• To provide support to Society users for all technical, operating systems, communications and hardware related problems logging all incidents and resolutions on the helpdesk. Referring all Summit Application problems to Systems and Process Dept, as appropriate.

Core skills:

• Servers and workstations connected to either NT and Unix platforms
• All Microsoft related products, including back-end systems
• All software applications with the exception of Summit Administrate, Activate, Initiate, Frontline, Clearview, Interact, Deeds
• LANs and WANs, DNS and DHCP, including all network peripherals
• All non Microsoft related back-end services, including websense antivirus, mailsweeper and back-up systems

Specialist skills (Microsoft back-end systems):

• All aspects of active directory
• Microsoft exchange
• Knowledge of virtualisation techniques
