Support Associate / ETL Developer recruitment
The Global Trading Research team monitors trade activity and performs analysis to discover, evaluate and propose new ways to minimize our trading impact in the marketplace.
We use highly customized tools, developed and supported in-house, for the analysis of our trades in the equity, currency, futures and fixed income markets. This is a high profile group which directly impacts the performance of our funds by providing tools for traders and portfolio managers to make intelligent decisions on trade timing and strategy. Sitting on the trading floor, team members are close to the excitement of the markets.
We are seeking a new member to work closely with Trading, Research, and Portfolio Management to develop and support the tools and processes used to monitor our global trading performance, and to perform quantitative analyses of trading strategies. This position requires solid programming and troubleshooting skills, coupled with an enthusiasm for learning quantitative analysis and a keen interest in financial markets.
Responsibilities
- Support, maintain and enhance our trade reporting system. Troubleshoot and resolve data issues, reconcile data, monitor daily jobs, respond to ad-hoc user requests.
- Take ownership for a specific asset class (eg: futures) within the team: including data loading, ETL development, ad-hoc and recurring reporting.
- Communicate effectively with end users (traders, portfolio managers, researchers) and fellow technologists across the firm.
- Manage and prioritize support responsibilities with strategic development projects effectively to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelors in Computer Science or related field. Masters preferred.
- 5+ years of related work experience. Trade support/ operations /clearing experience preferred.
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills, self-starter. Willing to wear multiple hats: support, ETL, reporting, light unix admin / DBA work.
- Passionate about working in the financial industry. Domain knowledge of securities trading is preferred.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.Strong work ethic and a keen sense of accountability.
Technical experience/skills
- 5+ years database development experience (complex SQL queries, DDL/DML, stored procedures).
- Strong understanding of database fundamentals, relational and dimensional data modeling.
- 5+ years UNIX experience (e.g. shell scripting, perl, alerts, cron, automation).
- 3+ experience loading large data sets: Scripting, Talend/Kettle/Informatica all pluses.
- Experience with data scrubbing, gap analysis, data reconciliation and integration very valuable.
- Object oriented programming concepts (e.g. Java, Ruby) is a plus.
