Support Engineer

Support Engineer - 3rd Shift Description: The role supports clients trading on our futures algorithmic trading systems that reside in a remote data center and are managed from the Main Ofiice. This is a level 1-2 support position that combines working with technical personnel and traders from client firms, with vendors to maintain trading connectivity, and with other groups within the company to service client requests, troubleshoot, and maintain trading systems. This person will be acting as the front line against trading and systems issues during the 3rd shift. They will deal with systems issues and respond to client requests, until they are relieved by equities trading support personnel at 9:00am. Additional 2nd and 3rd level support personnel will be available during the 3rd shift on a stand-by, emergency basis. Responsibilities Include: - performing Start of Day system checks - escalating issues to 2nd line support - monitoring algo trading - monitoring FIX connectivity - troubleshooting algo order trading and technical issues - responding to client requests - integrating with client and broker trading systems - certifying FIX traffic with clients and brokers Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor degree - understanding of FIX protocol - minimum 1 year experience supporting an electronic trading environment - excellent interpersonal and communication skills - strong customer service orientation - strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analysis skills - strong experience with UNIX and Linux - experience with TCP/IP networking Additional Skills and Experience: - experience with revision/source control systems - experience with and understanding of databases (MySql, Postgres) - perl and/or other scripting experience
