Surveillance/ Regulatory Manager recruitment
The clients UK Regulation department is responsible for regulating all the markets operated by the client. The department oversees secondary market trading, to ensure it is orderly, and monitors the markets for potential market abuse, market manipulation and breaches of the client’s rules. From a primary market perspective the department acts as 'competent authority' for AIM, regulates the Nomads and manages the AIM rules as well as controlling admission to the Main Market.
Responsibilities
- Management and day-to-day running of the Surveillance Team covering both Cash and Derivatives markets
- Making decisions on trading behaviour and highlight from investigation or escalation from Surveillance Analysts as to whether the behaviour requires further investigation
- Corresponding with the FSA regarding surveillance investigations and observed behaviour
- Assisting in the management of the team
- Managing and calculating Corporate Action adjustments for Derivative Contracts
- Investigating alerts and order book activity in real time, running T+1 reports on the database, and investigating company news releases to identify potential Insider Dealing
- Developing investigations and observations of trading behaviour
- Attending the FSA’s Surveillance Practitioners Group, discussing observed market behaviours and sharing ideas with the client
- Presenting to Audit/FSA/Reg Committee/external bodies explaining how Surveillance works
- Performing ad-hoc market replays for Sales to answer client queries around order book events
- Project management of the Surveillance arms of projects
- Managing Market Data needs, maintaining the market data log spreadsheet
- Developing new alert logic and liaising with development team for implementation

- Proven self-starter, can independently manage a business critical department of the company
- In depth knowledge of Order book trading and relevant regulation
- Experience managing a Surveillance team at an MTF or Broker
- Strong product knowledge
