An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sustainability Consultant to join the Sustainability and Carbon Management team of a leading International Multi Disciplinary Construction/Engineering Consultancy based in their London office.

The Sustainability and Carbon Management team is a specialist group created in response to demands for sustainable solutions in the built environment. This is a client facing role, covering work on projects both in the UK and occasionally internationally.

TO BE SUITABLE FOR THIS ROLE YOU MUST COME FROM EITHER A ENGINEERING/TECHNICAL BACKGROUND.

Responsibilities:

To work in a team, with a strong technical ability to assess and advise on BREEAM ratings, carbon, energy and environmental management, low carbon design, procurement, refurbishment strategies, costing of energy and sustainability measures and technologies. The role would suit someone who has a discipline in the engineering area possibly building services.

Your responsibilities will also include:

Leading BREEAM and LEED workshops, evidence collection and submitting same to BRE and USGBC.
Writing sustainability reports and strategies.
Conducting energy, waste and water audits.
Working to deadlines.
Acting on behalf of the company directly with clients and potential clients.
Benchmarking studies.
Facilitating workshops.
Undertaking business cases.
Undertaking life cycle assessment and embodied carbon studies.

Requirements:

The role requires you to have a very good knowledge of the construction process and the operation of built assets with a particular specialism in sustainability and in particular carbon reduction and sustainability rating methods. You will also have a thorough understanding of the theories and practice of sustainability and resource efficiency in construction, and sustainable FM, combined with a track record of practical implementation of energy, carbon and waste conservation and sustainable design and operation. Additional requirements:

Qualified and experienced in sustainability impact projects and in particular rating tools such as BREEAM and LEED.
Energy auditing experience.
Knowledge of energy efficiency/carbon issues, renewable energy, sustainable metrics, environmental performance, targeting and construction materials, and environmental impacts.
Excellent numeracy skills as well as the highest standards of report writing and presenting.
Strong experience in the construction industry.
Carbon Management skills.
BREEAM qualification and track record in delivery or LEED qualification, or qualified by experience.
