The Position:
Our New York office is currently looking for a Senior Vice President on our Learning Development team for the North America region.
The SVP, Learning Development North America has the primary responsibility in North America for Ketchum University, Ketchum's premier training program for employees, which has a strong reputation in the public relations industry. The SVP, Learning Development creates and implements learning strategies that directly impact Ketchum's business goals; designs learning activities and processes and delivers workshops as needed; and supervises both internal subject matter experts and external providers of training and development to attain learning outcomes. The role holds primary responsibility for understanding and representing Ketchum colleagues' learning and development needs in an ongoing updated manner and suggests optimal timely cost effective solutions. Role responsibilities include implementing elearning programs and assisting with the development of leadership programs that meet various functional needs.
The role serves as the key owner of and contact for Ketchum University - North America, the agency's corporate university. It works closely with the Human Resources function to integrate performance management and other HR tools and processes in the learning system. The role partners with the CLO to help shape the learning curriculum for Ketchum's senior executives, under the Ketchum Leadership Institute umbrella.
This role utilizes team resources to achieve its goals, including the LD Coordinator - North America role and the VP, LD Global Systems and Processes role. Both roles have a dotted line to the SVP.
This role reports to the Partner/Chief Learning Officer who interacts at the agency level to set organization learning and development goals, negotiates budget, sets overall learning strategy and imports cutting edge understanding of learning that differentiates Ketchum's work for clients.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts needs analysis and partners with office directors, HR, unit directors and employees to identify and shape training program and learning solutions for practices, specialty areas, and local operations along with the VP LD NA role.
- Designs learning material and tools, including elearning, Web content, train-the-trainer guides, workbooks, handouts, job aids, and syllabuses and promotional collateral.
- Negotiates with internal subject matter experts and external providers to provide learning solutions that meet targeted outcomes.
- Personally delivers learning interventions as appropriate, especially for the mid and senior level employees.
- Collaborates with HR colleagues to provide a seamless learning and development experience for employees.
- Evaluates all learning activity for impact on business outcomes and revises activity based on the insights gained.
- Stays up to date on developments in the field of learning.
- Identifies opportunities to optimize agency ROI by expanding and/or broadening learning initiatives as appropriate with the practices, specialty businesses, and specialty groups.
Qualifications:
- 12+ years work experience in the learning field, including delivery of training workshops.
- Global experience preferred. Public relations or other marketing or professional services experience a plus.
- BA/BS required, Masters level preferred.
- Employment in training, HR, OD or related fields, either internally in businesses, or externally through consultative organizations delivering learning and development activities.
- Willingness to travel.
- Experience in delivering training.
- Knowledge and experience in leadership development and execution.
- Experience working closely with senior leadership and c-level executives.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking, multi-cultural environment.
- Able to work with complexity and navigate ambiguity while establishing deadlines.
- Demonstrated strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills as well as effective presentation and facilitation skills.
- Internet/Intranet savvy. Experienced with e-learning, Web Meeting tools/software.
- Ability to manage expectations and relationships with staff, superiors, vendors, business partners, etc.
- Ability to think out of the box" - creative, innovative, designer/developer.
- Up to date on developments in the field of corporate learning.
