SWE - Comcast Data Services Java/J2EE Software Engineer


Qualifications:

* Proficient in web-tier development and OO concepts and patterns
* 3+ years progressive experience in enterprise architecture/data related disciplines, i.e., data modeling, architecture/design, and integration.
* Solid experience in Client/Server architecture/design, Servlets and Web Services based on J2EE architecture
* Proficient with JNDI, Spring, Hibernate, Apache, CFX AND/OR Tomcat
* Experience with ONE OR MORE of the following: REST, SOAP, Perl, ECMA Script, Action Script, HTML, XML, AJAX, JavaScript, JSON
* Comfortable with operating systems like LINUX/UNIX, CentOS
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills and able to work as part of cross-functional teams.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills and with Agile software development lifecycle
* Proven experience crating enterprise models incorporating master and reference data.
* Experience in developing and implementing IT architecture plans, Enterprise Information Architecture standard and guidelines, and software development methodologies.
* Experience in developing data sharing standards and architecting scalable service oriented solutions.
* Strong facilitation skills to engage subject matter experts to define data requirements and conduct data modeling design reviews with project teams.

The Challenge:

The qualified candidate will build a technical framework to ensure alignment of information technology with business strategies. Their focus will be on developing and maintaining business processes, information/data, applications, and web enterprise architectures and to facilitate changing needs based upon new business developments. He or she will provide technical leadership for developing and maintaining enterprise architecture and be responsible for architecture and developing enterprise wide solutions requiring multiple technologies, hosted applications, deployment and delivery systems.

They will be highly adept in developing information architectures aligned with information lifecycle management and have proven experience performing conceptual, logical and physical data modeling with data modeling tools and database design in a complex, large scale data environment. Their experience will be focused in developing data models that support transactional data and interface files that obtain information from different sources.

Tasks:
- Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and
technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration
needs.
- Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under
development, and customizes current applications. Assists with the
software update process for existing applications, and roll-outs of
software releases.
- Participates in training representatives and operations staff on
internally developed software applications.
- Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements,
including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical
manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
- Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews
literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of
assigned projects.
- Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and
guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as
a guide and mentor for junior-level Software Development Engineers.
- Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit
specification and technical requirements.
- Displays in-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts,
skills, and their application in the area of specified engineering
specialty.
- Displays in-depth knowledge of, and ability to apply, process design
and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design, and
technical choices to internal audiences.
- Displays knowledge of, and ability to apply, project management
skills.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters
of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work
nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Flash and Flex experience
* X11, Open GL, QT
* Video related technologies and applications.
* Degree in Software or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems Management or equivalent experience.
