Sydney: Undergraduate opportunity – Credit Analyst

Macquarie Leasing offers products including finance leases, novated lease agreements and commercial hire purchases for motor vehicles and other income producing plant and equipment.
Due to steady growth Macquarie Leasing is currently seeking to hire a commerce/finance undergraduate to join the Sydney lending team as a part time Credit Analyst. You must be in your penultimate/first year of study. This is a permanent, part time position.
You will be required to work Saturday, Sunday and Monday or Tuesday (either 3 or 4 days), every second week with potential to work every weekend should the roster require it. Saturday - Monday is preference.
Please note: You must be available to work these days on a regular basis
Reporting to the Lending Supervisor, the role involves assessing vehicle lease applications referred by third party introducers (e.g. brokers). A key part of this role is to build a rapport with these dealers introducers and maintain and improve our customer service to an agreed service level that meets both internal and external customer expectations. Accuracy and compliance are vital to meeting these goals, whilst contributing to a team environment.

As an undergraduate, you will be given extensive on the job training in the area of credit assessment within Macquarie Leasing. The purpose of such training is to provide you with a sound understanding of the business processes and policies which will enable you to approve credit applications within your delegation and provide the platform for possible future progression.
You will be responsible for:
- Assessing applications for consumer small ticket equipment finance
- Assessing financial statements and making appropriate commercial lending decisions
- Building mutually beneficial relationships with our third party introducers
- Preparing and structure quotes
- Liaising with and assist other departments
- Structuring risk to minimise losses
- Attending to internal and external customer enquiries
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A genuine interest in finance
- Be currently studying your first or penultimate year of tertiary education in finance/accounting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build rapport quickly
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm and composed in a high volume business area
- A professional attitude and be a team player
- Ability to work with little supervision and remain compliant at all times.
- Self motivation
- Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word)
