Position Responsibilities:

The Metadata Engineer is responsible for evaluating the accuracy of digital assets, tracking performance of content across different platforms and determining the root cause of problems with digital assets and metadata. This role has strong video, audio and metadata skills and thorough familiarity with professional broadcast video/audio.  This position is part of the Digital Media group and is able to work both independently and within an interdisciplinary team. The Metadata Engineer shows strong initiative and is able to work independently with clients and vendors. This role accepts that external priorities can change rapidly, and is adaptable to changes in shift operations, constantly seeking to improve efficiency and quality of technical operations.

• Support testing and evaluation of new customer deployments and new product launches by evaluating the content output from core systems
• Configure metadata transformation tools to support customer requirements
• Create client specific metadata transformation rules and policies
• Work with Quality Control team to test, trouble-shoot and provide overall operations for content and metadata
• Identify, prioritize, resolve, document and communicate both technical and operational issues
• Utilize specialized content monitoring tools to ensure customer requirements and operational readiness
• Provide thorough, detailed, clear and concise written documentation
• Interact with clients as part of operational activities such as customer support, technical and operational integration, and system maintenance
• Perform testing of platform and user acceptance testing
• Maintain high satisfaction (both internal and external) through successful and timely resolution of technical and operational problems
• Submit regular status updates and reports to a supervisor
• Train contracting staff on process to track, correct and mitigate content issues

Required Skills Experience:

Skills
• Excellent visual and audio capabilities
• Ability to estimate problem resolution times, either independently or in collaboration with other team members
• Strong customer relationship management skills
• Detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking, self-directed; with proven ability to prioritize tasks
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to offer multiple solutions to technical and operational problems and challenges
• Product and/or systems testing
• Experience with post production services, file standards and emerging technologies
• Troubleshooting metadata issues from clients getting set up on our system during on boarding, testing and steady state fallout.
• Review XML and look for discrepancies in filenames and characters
• String errors that have to do with code drops, work with IT on solutions
• Create specific metadata maps with IT for certain workflows to bridge gaps
• Submit change requests and requirements for new functionality with IT
• Work with solutions architects and engineering to determine needs and set up workflows
• Determine SLA requirements for monitoring
• Review test outputs
• QC check on metadata,  work with 3rd parties who scrub the metadata, and deal with fallout    
• Review work from 3rd parties, ensure jobs meet SLA, and track job progress/status
• Spot QC metadata and report on completed metadata scrubbing.

Experience:
• 3-5 years of broadcast/digital media industry experience
• 3-5 years of experience with video diagnosis tools and the ability to qualitatively grade and classify video and audio content
• Experience with post production services, file standards and emerging technologies
