This is a 9+ month contract position (with probable extensions) for our client in Seattle, WA, Cambridge, MA, and Thousand Oaks, CA.

Description:

Our client, a global leader in the Pharmaceutical industry is looking for a System Administrator to join their team. This Sr. IS Associate position is part of the Data Center Operations team in Application Hosting Services within the Enterprise Services organization, and is responsible for supporting the enterprise infrastructure environment. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to support cross-functional services under the supervision of the data center manager.

As a System Administrator you will:

· Review and monitor critical backup operations at the site.

· Provide hardware break/fix support and/or associated hands and feet for vendors and/or vendor escort

· Perform and/or assist with data center system installs, de-installs and cabling.

· Support, coordination and/or oversight of data center shutdown and startup efforts and other data center related maintenance activities.

· Manage relationships with, and/or coordinate with off-site data media storage provider.

· Perform media rotations (tape or other) as necessary to support backup operations.

· Perform data center physical audits and bar coding activities, and network switch/cable labeling.

· Assist with system patching, perform labeling of power connectors, oversee and/or coordinate data center cleaning activities.

· Support voice-data equipment rooms (VDERs).

· Perform backup job checks and monitor for the success failure of critical configuration items (CIs).

· Assist Sr. Systems Administrators with various systems administration tasks as needed.

· Provide operations reports and/or assist with provide trending information and root cause analysis data.

· Provide 24x7 on-call support of production system issues.

· Assist with documentation as needed to support various cross-functional areas.

· Interact closely with management, engineers, application resources, Database Administrators, Windows and UNIX Administrators, and Architects to plan and support the environments

· Participate in project meetings.

· Serve as interface for vendor relationship management with respect to equipment and contracts.

· Assist with disaster recovery and/or disaster recovery exercises as necessary.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience as a System Administrator, and work well in process driven and regulated environments. In addition, they will demonstrate expert level skills and experience with the following:

· Bachelor's degree plus 3 or more years of directly related experience.

· One or more platform certifications (Windows, UNIX, Linux) and/or vendor certifications (Veritas, Symantec, Cisco).

· Experience with Windows, UNIX. Linux, Veritas NetBackup,, Bare Metal Restores, BladeLogic and/or System Analysis/Design.

· Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact well with multiple levels of management.

· Able to organize and schedule tasks, develop realistic action plans, and incorporate time constraints and task priorities.

· Ability to take initiative and work with minimum direction in a high demand environment.

· Works effectively as a team member and works well in a collaborative environment.

· Possesses the ability to present results to management in a professional manner.

· Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
