Job Responsibilities and Duties: Some of the duties and responsibilities include: Perform installations Customization and maintenance of the operating system and system software products in support of business processing requirements Evaluate and integrate new operating system versions, drivers and hardware Provide technical expertise for system transitions, migrations and consolidations You will be expected to act as a subject matter expert in the design, architecture and deployment of new systems to keep the server environment stable and interruptions to a minimum in standalone and multi-tiered environments Conduct project management activities for new system requirements on various projects for deployment of business functions on new servers Transfer knowledge and provide leadership support to less experienced team members in the implementation of new hardware, operating systems and other required software on the systems Conduct system analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies and work with other professional technical staff in evaluating current systems and making decisions on future development Proactively learn new technologies to resolve any problems involved in integrating the new technologies with current systems Perform Root Cause analysis Plan maintenance programs Qualifications Required Skills: An in-depth disciplinary knowledge of IBM AIX and Linux. Other UNIX disciplines may be an advantage: HP-UX, Sun Solaris; leverages business acumen and subject matter expertise Knowledge of IBM pSeries hardware architecture, roadmap and implementations Server management including migration and consolidation Application systems design and deployments Enterprise storage server (IBM SAN) implementation Storage management, virtualization and consolidation (include IBM and EMC storage) Tivoli Storage Server Management IBM HACMP High Availability cluster solution implementations VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS) high availability solution implementations Clustering implementation in a virtual I/O server environment. VMware implementations with vSphere client Disaster recovery planning and executions Strong knowledge of AIX server virtualization technologies including detailed implementations with PowerVM and virtual I/O server Ability to work with hardware vendors for accurate quotes and hardware deliveries for project implementations Project Management Be able to provide deep subject matter expertise, advice and program delivery.
