System Administrator recruitment
The Storage System Administrator is responsible for the efficient operational support of UBS’ global storage and backup environments, which are dispersed across multiple geographical regions (APAC, EMEA, AMER and Switzerland).
Whilst “all round” Storage skills and experience are required, subject matter expert level skills are required in the NAS (Network Attached Storage) area, specifically supporting NetApp technology.
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Design, plan and implement APAC Storage Infrastructure projects according to project requirements. Ensure the infrastructure deployments adhere to UBS engineering standards
- As NAS Subject Matter Expert (SME), he/she will be responsible for collaborating over specific technical issues challenges with global counterparts
- Be accountable and responsible to keep track of pro-active initiatives (E.g. Ontap upgrades / Firmware breakfix etc) impacting APAC region
- Responsible to design strategies and negotiate with key business stakeholders for scheduling and mitigating risks in a timely fashion
- Managing vendor relationships for continual services improvement, especially on Storage related maintenance services, pro-active activities etc
- Responsible for management of Global Storage Infrastructure incidents during APAC timezone. Provide the post mortem review, incident report and identify any proactive measures required as a result of the analyses
- Develop relationships with other Infrastructure, Application and user groups
- Follow established procedures and processes to ensure that Audit and Regulatory requirements are met
- Follow company standards and procedures including security and change control
Requirements:
Our ideal candidate should have the following requisites:
- Must have 5 – 7 years of Storage installation and administration experience in large Production environments (preferably in Finance industry), with in-depth knowledge of NetApp Filers, EMC (Clariion and Symmetrix arrays) and Cisco Fiber Switch technologies
- Must be familiar with NFS, CIFS and HUFS protocols
- Experience required in NetApp Snapshot, SnapLock, EMC SRDF and TimeFinder technologies
- Data OnTap, ECC, Solutions Enabler, Navisphere Manager and Fabric Manager
- Exposure to backup technologies in an administrative role is desirable
- Experience in one or more areas like Shell/Perl scripting, Unix system administration, Windows Administration will be considered a plus
- Be willing to work outside business hours, including some weekends. This role requires the candidate to be available on-call
- Strong communication skills are required
