 Systems Administrator

Founded in 2002, Hudson River Trading is a quantitative trading firm based in the heart of Manhattan’s financial district.  Specializing in automated trading, we are at the cutting edge of the rapidly evolving intersection of computation and finance.

We are currently looking to expand our systems group and are especially interested in candidates with strong hardware diagnostic skills.

Your job:

Systems Administrators manage state-of-the-art UNIX servers and networking equipment in our datacenters.  Responsibilities are broad and include hardware and software installation and configuration, automation scripting, monitoring, power distribution, performance tuning, testing new hardware, and planning.  We are jacks-of-all-trades who can effectively multitask yet retain a high attention to detail that keeps our systems running as efficiently as possible.

PLEASE NOTE: This position is located at our office in Ossining, NY.

Technical Skills:

•           Expertise with UNIX operating systems (we use FreeBSD), perl, shell

scripting, network protocols and file systems

•           Experience installing and troubleshooting server hardware

•           Network configuration and troubleshooting experience

Other Requirements:

•           BS / MS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field

•           Ability to work independently and on a team

•           Ability to fix and analyze problems quickly

•           Ability to learn quickly and apply new skills effectively
