This position is responsible for being the secondary point of contact for the customer on related technical issues. Supplementing the close support role, this position is responsible for supporting both hardware and software issues associated with the customers operating systems. In addition to providing these services, this position is responsible for resolving all technical problems escalated by the customer or operations staff.   This position maintains increased administration privileges and is responsible for user account/attribute setup and maintenance for the network environment for our client’s Security Operations Center (SOC), as well as for applications and other services on the network, that relate to the SOC. This position is also responsible for initial trouble shooting of server and network components (i.e., file, user, print, application servers, routers, hubs, firewalls, etc.) as well as requisite problem escalation to hardware software vendors if the problems remain unresolved.

 

As a Network Engineer, this position must be able to design, configure and trouble shoot network equipment used by the Security Operation Center (SOC) and interface with local and our client’s-wide networking organizations in a meaningful manner. 

 

Specific Skills:

 

·         User account and directory group management to perform access control administration of file shares, applications and databases for Windows 2003 Server.

·         Formal training and 2 years applied experience in supporting the Microsoft operating system and related hardware platforms, and two or more years applied experience in Systems Administration supporting Linux systems.

·         Applied experience in using the Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel products.

·         Applied experience in network architectures (i.e., Ethernet) and associated components, including TCP/IP and router/switch technologies, firewalls, etc.

·         Familiarization or experience with the Remedy problem tracking application, or related problem management products.

·         Applied experience in desktop and server hardware/software installation, configuration and support.

·         Applied experience in network and local printer installation, configuration and support.

·         Experience using virus scanning and security utilities to support data transfers. 

·         Knowledge and understanding of customer INFOSEC policies and procedures supporting account management and access administration.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills to support customer and team interaction to respond to support requirements

·         Strong organization and time management skills to meet customer service level expectations.

·         On call rotation responsibility.   Must be able to carry cell phone and respond verbally and with online access in emergencies 24x7.

·         Coordination with vendors for product maintenance and patching support.

·         Linux OS security knowledge; network security experience and knowledge of best practices. 

·         Writing shell scripts and other automation tools. 

·         ArcSight and SourceFire experience is a significant plus.

·         Experience in remote system maintenance and management.

·         Experience in Configuration Management Systems, e.g. Puppet.

·         Mastery of layer 2 and layer 3 network fundamentals. 

·         Experience in enterprise networking. 

·         IPv6 and jumbo packet experience.  

·         Experience with industry standard networking tools:  IPS/IDS, firewalls, packet capture and analysis, vulnerability scanners, centralized log management, aggregation devices, etc.  

·         Ability to travel within the US

 

Education:

Requires a Bachelors degree or equivalent

 

Experience:

Minimum 8 years of related experience

 

US citizen with ability to obtain a security clearance

 

Desired Skills

 

·         Any of the following certificates: Microsoft Windows (MCSA, MCSE), ITIL Foundation Certification.

·         Any networking certification or training.
