System Integration Engineer

Eaton Corporation in Galesburg, MI has an opening for a System Integration Engineer. The System Engineer is a member of multi-functional teams working directly with engine, truck OEMs and Eaton regional ACE teams in system level integration of Eaton Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) products into heavy-duty medium-duty vehicles worldwide. Essential Functions: Work directly with engine vehicle OEMs to develop validate system functionality optimal performance with Eaton Automated Transmissions to Eaton customer requirements/specifications Communicate Eaton transmission interface requirements to engine manufacturers vehicle OEMs and assist in development and integration of optimum engine/transmission performance. Establish/Develop/Collaborate performance guidelines, requirements, and specifications for vehicle OEMs, engine OEMs, and transmission product teams. Provide/communicate to engine transmission organizations with approval/rejection disposition of transmission compatibility with engine or vehicle versus performance requirements or customer expectations. Serve as technical liaison working with and training multi-functional teams worldwide in support of engine vehicle integration needs on current/new product transmission development programs. Responsibilities include root cause analysis and corrective action associated with the engine or vehicle AMT-integration. Interface with end-user customers or field service to ensure optimal powertrain performance or to resolve engine/vehicle-transmission integration issues. Develop guidelines, requirements, and specifications for engine OEMs, truck OEMs, transmission product teams. Develop/Maintain strong business relationships with engine OEMs, Truck OEMs, and end-use customers. Skills required to meet position qualifications: The incumbent will be required to possess or capable of acquiring a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) to perform many of the responsibilities of the position. Preferred/Additional Specialized Knowledge (not required to be qualified for position): The ideal candidate would have a background-in or be capable of demonstrating strong understanding/knowledge/aptitude in automotive or heavy-duty truck drivetrain/powertrain/engine systems or components. The individual must possess good analytical skills in the mechanical/electrical disciplines. The ideal candidate is a self-starter / self-motivated, strong communication skills, team player, adaptive, and results oriented. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and/or aptitude in engine-fuel and/or transmission control systems. Knowledge in or experience with SAE-J1939 vehicle communication system a plus. Knowledge of or skills in SixSigma problem solving methods and/or Design For SixSigma is a plus. Four year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering field from a nationally accredited university. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship.
