Systems Administrator I Job in Providence 02908, Rhode Island US

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for managing and tuning in-house computer software systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. Participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

·         Manages all system operating systems and end-user software

·         Windows Operating System Administration, Installation, Maintenance and Patching.

·         Ensures the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance

·         Manages end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance

·         Performs and tests routine system backups and restores

·         Anticipates, mitigates, identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware and software problems on responsible systems

·         Supports application development teams throughout project lifecycles

·         Analyzes system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance

·         Recommends, schedules, and performs software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases

·         Conducts research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts

·         Creates required reports in response to business user needs

·         Develops, documents, and maintains policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use

·         Maintains system documentation and logs

·         After hours On-Call a must

·         Performs other duties as assigned

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Bachelor degree in the field of Computer Science or Information Systems and/or equivalent related experience.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

·         Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems

·         Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards

·         Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience

·         Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

·         3-5 years of increasingly responsible computer applications programming and/or systems analysis

·         Demonstrated competency in systems documentation

·         Experience in NETBACKUP administration and Operations

·         Experience in Computer Operations and Support
