GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Systems Administrator is a member of the Processing Operations team in the Laureate Education Global Products and Services group and reports to the Sr. Director, Processing Operations. The Systems Administrator will oversee Enterprise Backup activities within the Processing Operations team. This individual will be included in all projects that require integration into Laureate's existing backup environment. This individual will also assist in maintaining and monitoring scheduled backup activities and associated restores. The ideal candidate will be process driven and have must have a strong attention to detail.

This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, growing environment. The candidate must be able to support and maintain systems in an enterprise environment and take direction from senior management, but also seek opportunities to improve and stabilize the environment while implementing efficiencies in daily processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities will include participation in an "on call" rotation and provide after-hours availability. Responsibilities include enforcing the Processing Operations enterprise backup and restore standards, policies and procedures.

' Responsible for managing Laureate's enterprise backup environment including the corporate data center, and remote back office and campus locations.

' Ensure all systems within the enterprise are backed up according to schedules.

' Provide daily insight into enterprise backup status to ensure all Windows and Linux-based systems are appropriately scheduled for backups.

' Create and maintain documentation on backup and restore processes, policies and procedures, ensuring they are accurate and current.

' Responsible for periodic verification tests of 'Bare-Metal Restores', ensuring efficient restoration capabilities.

' Responsible for ensuring all client systems are running current, approved backup software versions.

' Administration and maintenance of Tape Library.

' Administration of backup data replication topology for all Laureate locations.

' Responsible for contract and library maintenance for offsite tape storage.

' Provide guidance on best practices for backup rotations, large data volume management, replication topologies, and integration with virtual infrastructures.

' Management of Virtualization backup and restores utilizing enterprise backup software.

' Provide architectural oversight and guidance on all projects involving the integration of physical devices

' Responsible for responding to requests for data and server restores as well as alterations to backup policies and schedules.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

' 5 - 10 years of experience required in the Information Technology field

' At least 5 years of experience maintaining an Enterprise Backup solution

' Must possess an understanding of network storage concepts and solutions (SAN and NAS devices).

' Knowledge of application specific backups to include; Active Directory, SharePoint and SCCM.

' Advanced knowledge of Symantec Netbackup products and solutions.

' A strong understanding of both the Windows and Linux Operating Systems is required

' Must have experience with Backup replication topologies

' Must have an in-depth working knowledge of backup methodologies to include: Full, Synthetic Full, incremental, and differential backups, as well as retention policies.

' Experience administering Tape Libraries and an understanding of the latest technology offerings from vendors such as Quantum, EMC, Symantec, and VMware.

' Ability to develop strategic technical documentation and written communications relative to field of expertise (policies, process documents, procedural documents and quick reference guides)

' Strong working knowledge of Virtual infrastructure technologies including VMware and HyperV.

' Must possesses a working knowledge of network services and protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP services

' Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and organizational skills

' Superior customer service skills for interacting with users

' Project management oriented with ability to lead project planning through implementation

' Strong written and verbal skills and comfortable preparing documentation of team procedures and guidelines

' Detail orientation, and the ability to record, organize, and communicate detail

' Occasional travel may be required
