Systems Administrator (VMware) 3

Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Systems Administrator / VMware to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The Systems Administrator will specialize in the management and operations of a virtualized environment running on Windows/Linux systems in support of the Missile Defense Agency on the JRDC program at Schriever AFB, CO.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Primary duties include running through a daily battle-rhythm of
checks on the virtualized environment, viewing and responding to
events reflected in the various management tools, server patch
management, attending various meetings (team, staff, change,
configuration, etc.), participating in forward thinking activities and
automating

  • Daily reviews of systems to ensure normal maintenance functions are
    performing properly as well as execution of daily/weekly system
    health checks
  • System audit log reviews as required
  • The Systems Administrator will be required to coordinate efforts with
    other work centers and personnel to resolve Remedy Incidents
    related to systems and supporting infrastructure
  • Primary duty hours fall between 0700 and 1700 with shift work
    required to assist with after-hours maintenance activities and staffing
    of the IT Operations Center
  • Other System Administrator duties may be required
  • Basic Qualifications:
    To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information
    Systems or related technical field and 5 years of
    experience. Years of experience may be acceptable
    in lieu of degree
  • Must have strong relevant skills in a large virtualized
    environment
  • Must have a strong networking background with an
    emphasis on security
  • Must have a strong analytical background with
    accompanying troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Per DoD 8570 candidate must be certified Security+,
    or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Previous work experience in a virtualized
    environment (specifically, VMware) as a
    Windows/Linux System Administrator supporting a
    large Enterprise with knowledge of Microsoft Active
    Directory, Windows 2003/2008, Linux/UNIX
    Operating Systems, EMC Storage, Symantec
    Netbackup and SCCM Patch Management solutions
  • Prefer a candidate with an ability to quickly adapt to
    new situations, a strong commitment to a team
    environment, a capacity to work with little supervision
    and the willingness to learn new technologies
  • Position prefers a candidate with a current Secret
    clearance
