Systems Administrator/Desktop Support – Boutique Investment Management Firm recruitment
This is a great opportunity for a Systems Administrator/Desktop Support candidate based in London for a specialist asset management and advisory firm. The salary will be competitive and there is potential for a performance-based bonus.
This is an excellent position for a motivated individual to gain experience in the investment management industry and to develop the skills necessary for a more senior role, as the company develops its services both in asset management/advisory and software. The applicant must be ready for a high pressure, fluid working environment, requiring flexibility with working hours and/or handling a multitude of tasks in a given timeframe. The salary is reviewed annually and there is potential for a performance-based bonus.
Position Summary
• Maintaining the desktop infrastructure, including troubleshooting user problems.
• Maintaining the server infrastructure and managing day to day activities in the server room.
• Implementing and rolling out new software and hardware across the firm.
• The role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
• Focus on the continuous improvement of services, technology and process improvement.
• Support of Disaster Recover Site and tests.
Knowledge and Experience Required
• Windows XP/Windows 7
• Windows 2003/2008.
• Exchange 2003/2007/2010
• Ideally, direct experience in a relevant role
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux, in a professional situation.
• Virtualisation technologies especially Vmware ESXi/ESX, Active Directory, Office 365 (preferred), Backup technologies, Blackberry Enterprise Server and Unix Technologies (winbind, openvpn, samba, iptables and rsync).
• Strong analytical and problem solving ability, including the ability to diagnose faulty hardware, where required and repair.
• Motivated to learn new technologies, both as self-taught and with assistance from other team members.
• Good communication and strong interpersonal skills.
• Able to deal with and manage conflicting priorities and to make business critical decisions independently when required, or to escalate as appropriate. Must be comfortable working in a fluid, multi-tasking environment.
