As a Systems and Logic Design Engineer of the Micron Architecture Research and Development (ARD) Systems Design Team, you will join a team that designs and supports embedded platforms that enable Micron NOR, NAND, RAM and Phase-Change Memory (PCM) silicon products.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Focusing on hardware design at the system level requiring that you be experienced in hardware design and low level software. The hardware design will include but not be limited to System design, PCB design and FPGA design (via an HDL language).
- Performing FPGA logic design.
- Interfacing with marketing and customers to handle customer issues involving Micron silicon and understanding the system level impacts related to these issues.
- Understanding the wide range of memory subsystems that Micron targets and eventually becoming an expert if not already.
- Assisting in the debug of software and/or hardware issues using debug tools like logic analyzers, digital oscilloscopes, JTAG debuggers and protocol analyzers.
- Working in a dynamic and changing environment.
Successful candidates for this position will have:
- 4-8 years experience in the industry required designing complex systems using FPGA/CPLD/ASIC logic elements and methodologies.
- In depth understanding of Altera design environment and tools or equivalent.
- Design experience with PCIe based systems is required.
- Good understanding of the PCIe 1/2/3 specifications and system validation strategies.
- PCIe 1/2/3 core design experience. (Preferred)
- Simulation experience with Model SIM or equivalent.
- Experience debugging systems with PCIe 1/2/3 using Logic Analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers or other methods.
- Experience with the following hardware and software languages: Verilog/VHDL, C, and Visual Studio.
- Familiarity with memory architecture NOR, NAND, PCM and RAM (Preferred).
- Prior experience in storage, enterprise storage, SAS/SATA, and anything Solid State Disk (SSD) related (Preferred).
- Ability to be a self-starter, excellent communication skills and work well in a diverse, cross-functional and cross-site team.
- Demonstrated contributing and/or driving problems solving exercises with small groups.
- Strong technical communication ability and problem solving skills.
Education:
Bachelor or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent is required.
