Systems Architect – Wireless Radio – GSM, WiMAX, WiFi, Zigbee, Bluetooth, Matlab
The Radio Systems Architect will provide engineering consultancy services as required and technical leadership for RF and Systems engineering both internally and with clients to ensure that the highest standards of technical excellence are met.
You will have an Honours degree (2.1 or above) typically in Electronic Engineering or Physics from a good University and may also have a postgraduate qualification.
You will have all of the following skills:
· Able to design and mathematically analyse bespoke communication systems independently and also using tools such as Matlab
· Able to design the architecture of a wireless system from a blank sheet of paper
· Able to effectively perform requirements capture and write documentation
· Able to generate air interface protocol specifications
· Knowledge of current air interface standards used for wireless communications including some or all of: WCDMA, LTE, GSM, WiMAX, WiFi, Zigbee, Bluetooth, GPS
· Be comfortable with working at all levels of a system from architecture design through to practical hands-on working in the lab or field
Essential experience includes
· substantial experience in a commercial environment;
· development experience of one or more large scale wireless systems from specification to integration and delivery;
· modelling and simulation of wireless communication systems;
· Experience of RF systems design in range 100 MHz to 10 GHz e.g. link budgets, antennas, linearised amplifiers, receive chains, gain line-ups.
· Experience of designing systems with digital modulation schemes.
· You may also have experience in antenna beam steering and/or RF direction finding algorithms and engineering design techniques for high density products e.g. mobile phones.
· You will be self motivated, able to take the initiative in client discussions, be an effective team player and have efficient time management skills enabling you to work well on your own.
The following skills would also be an advantage:
· Experience of writing software e.g. C
· Able to implement ad hoc investigation software tools using e.g. Python
· Able to use structured methodologies such as UML
