Systems Developer

We are looking for a Systems Developer to join the core development team. The Core Development team focuses on a broad range of technologies and is responsible for developing and maintaining software that offers primarily backend services (with some mostly internal facing UI’s) to support business/users operations in conjunction with other teams throughout the CTG.
This includes work on:
- Radius Platforms and all surrounding/supporting systems;
- Credit Card Billing Platforms;
- Supplier Gateway/API systems;
- Automation Systems.
You Will:
- Develop secure software/solutions based on a supplied specification.
- Provide support/handover to Operations and other peer teams in setup and maintenance of solutions/platforms created.
- Be a point of escalation for solutions/software developed, supporting internal users.
- Contribute to design process (partially or fully) for platforms/solutions required to fulfil development requests from other parts of the business
- Evaluate and/or suggest potentially suitable new technologies/methodologies for use within the team
- Support team members in any peer review/testing
Main requirements
- At least three years professional experience
- Must have good technical communication skills
- Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Experience developing with PHP, C/C++ and one of Ruby or Perl
- Understanding of developing secure applications, and testing for vulnerabilities
- Experience in the use of testing frameworks/methodologies
- Comfortable using revision control tools Subversion and/or Git
- Good knowledge of how to employ MySQL and knowledge of SQL and database design
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks at a given time
Nice to have
- Experience using an MVC or similar framework, such as Zend or Rails
- Knowledge of and able to apply Enterprise Design Patterns
- Previous experience with automated testing systems (such as Jenkins)
- Experience using PostgreSQL and ability to construct and analyse complex SQL queries
