Position Description

Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to assist with analyses, design, development and verification of a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Assists with analyses to evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Assists with various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Assists with system engineering analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.

Support reliability tasks through all satellite program phases. Interface effectively with all technical disciplines in a team environment to trade factors such as reliability, cost, weight and technical risk in arriving at the final design. Prepare mathematical models, failure rate predictions, electrical stress derating and failure modes and effects analyses. Knowledge in statistics and statistical methods is a plus.

This position requires the ability to work in a team environment and a strong desire to learn. Experience in reliability modeling, failure rate predictions, electrical stress derating, failure modes effects and criticality analyses and familiarity with satellite and payload design, fabrication and test is a plus. Computer literacy and proficiency in mathematics is essential. Familiarity with math software tools such as MatLab, Mathematica and an interest in or proficiency in C++ and VBA programming is desired.

Typical Education/Experience

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
