Systems Engineer I

The Rocky Mountain Engineering SEIT organization is seeking an entry level Engineer to join our team in the development of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS), a state-of-the-art ground system for the next generation of low earth orbiting environmental satellites. This engineer will become part of the Specialty Engineering team and will use his/her technical skills to identify Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RMA) impacts and ensure RMA considerations are appropriately allocated to the system and horizontally integrated across the program. Responsibilities include: · Assist in the performance of RMA analyses including physics of failure; diagnostics and fault isolation; prognostics and fault predictions; component stress analysis; failure modes, effects and criticality; fault tree analysis; and, modeling and predictions · Apply technical standards, principles and theories, concepts and techniques to solve problems · Contribute to the completion of program milestones under the general guidance of his/her immediate Supervisor · Follow established processes and procedures and be willing to recommend improvements to both Required Experience: · Coursework in basic systems engineering, system architecture design theory and process · Coursework in reliability engineering · Coursework in requirements analysis development, traceability and verification · Good verbal and written communication skills Desired Experience: · Coursework in aerospace engineering or specialty engineering · Coursework in technical writing · Ability to work in a collaborative environment with geographically dispersed team members · Experience working with Interface Control Definitions (ICDs) · Experience using modeling and prediction tools such as PTC Windchill · Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of tools · Ability to research and distill data into meaningful information · Exposure to the engineering development life cycle (systems and/or software) · An advanced degree with additional coursework in reliability engineering Required Education: · BS in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other engineering related scientific discipline · Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (Please include your GPS on your resume.)
