Overview of Position
The Systems Engineer III is responsible for installing
Responsibilities
- Research
, install, administer and maintain distributed enterprise technology to ensure maximum availability of mission critical business systems, applications and data. Informal guidelines dictate 99.9% application and data availability for the production infrastructure and user-base.
- Perform Systems Administration for all internal data systems
, requiring a solid understanding of Windows 2000/2003/2008, MS Clustering, operating system configuration and administrative software and scripts.
- Provide first and second level support
, requiring a solid understanding of problem, incident and change control processes. Perform changes and problem resolution in an effective and timely manner following ITIL practices.
- Perform routine system monitoring to ensure ongoing availability, integrity, and security of managed assets.
- Implement automation to improve of server deployments, operations, patches, configuration and monitoring.
- Contribute to data storage management including backup and recovery.
- Determine and resolve issues as required working with our customers
, internal and external support partners.
- Participate in multiple projects/tasks. Demonstrate time management and prioritization skills to accommodate dynamic business requirements while managing scheduled activities.
- Less than 5% domestic and international travel may be required with this position

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
, MIS, IT, or related field; - 6+ years of systems design, delivery and administration or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Detailed understanding of servers/storage/networking. Proven system architecture design skills.
- Proven experience supporting multiple environments for enterprise applications.
- Strong scripting experience with Perl and/or Python
- Solid understanding of large SAN implementations
, Windows 2000/2003/2008 server OS, MS Clustering and virtualization (VMWare), and Active Directory - Working knowledge of Debian or similar linux distribution administration
- Previous exposure to problem management and change control (ITIL Framework would be a plus)
- Track record of effective communication and collaboration with business leaders and cross-departmental representatives. Advanced communications skills
, including listening, writing, speaking, presenting and influencing. - Strong leadership with ability to drive issues to closure. Advanced ability to exercise independent judgment; critical thinking
