JOB SUMMARY: In this role you will be working with internal and external customers and New Product Development (NPD) teams, turn Customer Needs into requirements and specifications from the product level to the module level.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·  Based on intimate knowledge of customers and their environments, work with teams, or develop individually, the appropriate Use Cases for the product.

·  Working across a large and diverse team, have responsibility for the creation and maintenance of the Product and System level requirements.

·  Methods will utilize functional decomposition, physical decomposition, context diagrams, activity diagrams, etc.

·  Develop System Architectures for the devices, and device family derivatives, based on product technology strategies and in alignment with platform development goals for the organization.

·  Work with the NPD teams and / or outside partners to define and manage parallel development by defining interfaces and allocating functionality and performance.

·  Use advanced tools such as DOORS to transition to model driven requirements and design.

·  Ensure completion and alignment of risk file deliverables to confirm a high degree of product safety.

·  Provide technical leadership to the development team and drive fact based decisions with the clear and concise understanding of total product, project, customer, and business impact.

·  Effectively plan and coordinate all Systems Engineering tasks through the use of MS Project (or similar); work with Project Management, Core Team Leads and any other key development partners to synchronize planning across all engineering functions and phases of development.

·  The challenge will be applying your systems engineering, communication, and leadership skills to help us drive a strong Systems Engineering development approach.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

·  BS in technical, multidisciplinary engineering, or systems engineering and 8+ years experience.

·  MS in technical, multidisciplinary engineering, or systems engineering and 6+ years experience.

·  Requires strong leadership, organization and communication skills and proven ability to lead and influence a cross functional team. Demonstrated experience in managing projects independently, the implementation of design control requirements, and the execution of complex verification activities is important.

·  Demonstrated ability to translate the customer and technical design input requirements using systems engineering principles to develop system architecture and specifications with clear boundary conditions.

·  Experience as the System architect for highly complex electromechanical/pneumatic systems utilizing diverse software and hardware.

·  Experience in robust Risk Management methodologies; familiar with ISO 14971 standard.

·  Experience in the development of control algorithms for real time embedded systems.

·  Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with discipline specific product design engineers.

·  Previous product development with Medical Devices, experience with FDA Regulations or other applicable regulatory requirements, or experience with structured and disciplined development processes is highly preferred.

·  Experience with system modeling is highly preferred. Preferable tools include UML, OOA, and OOD methodologies

·  Experience with dFMEA and DFSS tools such as Voice of the Customer, Critical to Quality, Quality Function Deployment and Failure Prediction Analysis is highly desirable. DFSS certification (Green or Black Belt) is highly desirable.
