Customer service System Engineer for Cray Inc. position located at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Provide approximately 60% software and 40% hardware technical support and maintenance for Cray Inc. massively parallel (MPP) computer systems.
Analyze system software and hardware issues, effect repair or workaround when possible, escalate problems to product support groups and appropriate management, to effect a timely resolution of system or customer issues.
Requires a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related technical degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Must possess excellent customer relations and problem management skills. Must have working knowledge of Linux system administration and be skillful in general programming languages. Experience in C and shell scripting is desired. Occasional travel for training or to help support remote systems is required. Must be willing to work on-call to provide 24x7 support.
