Position Summary: The Systems Engineer is responsible for the reliability, performance, recoverability, and security of company server hardware, operating systems, and certain infrastructure applications. This includes design, documentation, implementation, configuration, coordination, control maintenance, troubleshooting, usage monitoring and upgrades within the company’s technology environment. Assist with the development of standards and procedures, and making technology recommendations. Other responsibilities include supporting information technology projects and other business groups such as marketing, configuration management, integrated services, security, networks, field techs, and telecom.
Essential Job Functions:
· Support systems and manage equipment/software
· Administer Server platforms (or related)
· Build/Rebuild servers and configure systems
· Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support as needed
· Perform other duties as required
· Performs daily backup and recovery operations in accordance with established procedures
· Participate in disaster recovery simulations
· Conducts routine hardware and software audits of servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures
· Develops and maintains a comprehensive hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation
· Provides user account administration for the distributed server environment and infrastructure applications
· Works with vendors, application developers, database administrators, and other technology groups to resolve problems
· Acts as a Server Platform liaison for one or more operating systems platforms
· Provide Storage SAN infrastructure support for implementations and troubleshooting performance issues
· Provide support for infrastructure applications that support and service customers internally and externally
Position Requirements:
· Industry Certifications preferred
· A minimum of 5 years experience with Linux required
· A Minimum of 3 years experience supporting web/app environment
· Experience with Apache/Tomcat/JBoss preferred
· Experience with RHEL Cluster preferred
· Experience with VMWare Virtualization Platform preferred
· Implement and maintain high quality operational standards, processes and procedures
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Strong documentation and teamwork skills
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
· Must be well organized and detail oriented
· Flexible hours required; Must be willing to be available 24 hours per day/7 days a week when necessary
· Remote evening and weekend work as required including having high speed home internet access
