Position Overview
Because of a strategic commitment, Goodrich Corporation has initiated the creation of an Electronic Systems Center (ESC) headquartered in scenic Phoenix, AZ. The ESC will support a wide variety of Goodrich aerospace products with state-of-the-art facilities and expertise. The ESC team will design, test, build, and support electronic components and systems for all parts of the Enterprise. As a systems engineer you will be working in a focused, cross-functional team of engineers designing and developing aviation products.

Primary Responsibilities
Execution of Engineering Projects:
* Perform joint definition and development of electronic aircraft systems from upfront system architecture and interface definition through requirements capture and flow down, trace, test, integration and ending with support of ground/flight test and certification
* Daily technical interaction with program, project, electrical, software, hardware, mechanical, test, RMS and quality groups within the division
* Regular technical interaction with other Goodrich divisions, partners and end customers
* Develops sub-system trade studies, algorithms and error budgets as necessary to support the project
* Drive the usage of appropriate Lean Product Development tools to support cost-effective technical solutions with heavy focus on platform design, reuse and knowledge-management

Leadership:
* Performs the full life-cycle systems development tasks with minimal amount of supervision and direction from the Engineering Manager
* Mentors and train junior engineers to improve their creativity, thoroughness, and technical savvy

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
* BS degree in Electrical, Systems or Computer Engineering with at least 5 years of experience as a systems engineer in the Aerospace Industry
* DO-178B and/or DO-254 development life-cycle experience including requirements, design, development, change control, configuration management, integration, validation, verification and qualification
* Familiarity with DO-160 hardware qualification
* Broad based system design and development background (electronics, software, avionics) with experience in system design and architecting utilizing ARP4754 guidance and considering commercial aircraft certification requirements
* Experience with ARP4761 guidance including a solid understanding of how the FHA, SSA, Fault Trees, Certification Test Plans, Reliability Analysis, Common-Mode Analyses, and other documents required for aircraft certification are constructed
* Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to facilitate frequent interaction with internal disciplines and with other Goodrich divisions and OEM's worldwide

Preferred:
* Experience with system modeling to support hardware/software partitioning, trade studies, overall design decisions, and to predict total system performance
* Experience with model based system engineering utilizing Matlab and Simulink including auto code generation
* Experience with Primary or Secondary flight control systems
