Realize the rewards of conquering a new challenge! A restricted program in Reston, VA, has an opportunity for a mid-level Systems Engineer to join a development / OM program. This engineer will be working system engineering items in support of an enterprise level web based application. Successful candidate is a self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize workloads and schedules, and identify and resolve impediments in a fast-paced agile environment. This SE must possess the ability to both lead and work as an individual contributor on a cross-functional agile team and must be able to work effectively with the customer, mission, stakeholders and teammates, as well as the customer staff in general. Individual will use his/her strong system engineering skills to determine customer needs and resultant requirements/user stories, create testable requirements, work with software development and system integrators to ensure that the proposed design and final implementation meets the customer's requirements, define the test/acceptance criteria and work any related external interface issues. This SE will be expected to create briefings and present them to government engineering boards, stakeholders, and other customer representatives. He/she will also coordinate operational baseline changes with a government board. This SE may also serve as a logistics representative for the project, ensuring approvals and maintenance/license agreements are in current for all project COTS.
Basic Qualifications:
• Position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Bachelors degree in a technical or related field, and a minimum of 5 years experience in systems engineering. Four additional years of engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Strong system engineering skills, including experience determining and analyzing customer needs and requirements/user stories, working closely with development and engineering teams to ensure that design and implementation meets requirements, developing and delivering briefings to government engineering boards
• Experience creating and updating CDRLs such as System Design Concept Documents, OM Plans, System Administration Documentation, SLAs, ICDs, and other technical documentation.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, and interpersonal skills/experience are necessary to succeed in collaboration across multiple organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Technical leadership and/or management experience.
• Knowledge of/experience working with security certification and accreditation, including developing and updating System Security Plans.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Experience with DOORS, Jira/Greenhopper and / or MKS
• A TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph preferred
