Job Summary:  The Systems Engineer is responsible for the overall performance, reliability, security and maintenance of the Autotask technical infrastructure. The Systems Engineer will work closely with the Technology staff in the U.S. in order to provide the highest available uptime to our customers.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

·         Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

·         Evaluates and maintains LAN, WAN and related components, including switches, hubs, routers and firewalls. 

·         Actively monitors, analyses and resolves all related issues across all server and network environments.

·         Actively monitors, analyses web site performance, availability and activity metrics.             

·         Develops network and server related documentation, including topology, security and asset management.

·         Identifies opportunities to streamline processes or reduce costs through innovative use of technology.

·         Procures necessary network-related items, including hardware, software and related peripherals.

 

Qualifications:

·         Minimum of 5 years of hands-on, practical experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2003-2008R2, Microsoft Exchange 2000/2003, Windows XP/Vista/7 .

·         Minimum of 5 years of hands-on, practical experience with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, POP, NTP and all other network-related protocols.

·         Minimum of 3 years of hands-on, practical experience in virtualization (VMWare/VSphere).

·         Minimum of 3 years of hands-on, practical experience with Cisco IOS.

·         Excellent communication, organization and documentation skills.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills.

·         Experience with various Internet technologies.

·         Positive attitude, motivation and a desire for continuous improvement.

 

 

Education Requirements:

·         BA/BS in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred

·         Foundation degree or Higher National Diploma in Information Technology required
