Job Description:
7ticks is a leading managed service provider (MSP) for the financial trading marketplace. We provide global ultra-low latency infrastructure that trading firms of all sizes use to run their businesses. We’re looking for a passionate technology professional with deep technical skills, a desire to design/build/run and continuously improve mission-critical trading environments.
We are currently seeking to add a Server Systems Engineer to the 7ticks team. This person will perform Server Delivery and Server Operations tasks, designing, building, and supporting customer servers. The servers we deliver and manage for customers come in a variety of flavors, including Windows, Linux, Unix, Dell, HP. The ideal candidate will have subject matter expertise in multiple versions of software and hardware. The Systems Engineer’s goal will be to deliver a high-quality product by committed delivery dates, while also providing operational support for multiple systems.
The duties and responsibilities of the Systems Engineer will include:
- Deliver customer server builds;
- Provide Tier-3 tactical assistance with server operations issues as needed;
- Operate and improve server build automation process;
- Research, document, publish, maintain library of server delivery policies and procedures;
- Be a Windows and Linux server build, OS, tools, automation, configuration, expert;
- Engage hardware vendors and industry resources regularly to stay current on server technologies, hardware, and performance engineering. Use this information to create and sustain competitive advantage;
- Work across all functional groups to continually improve business performance by honing technology procedures;
- Be responsive to customer operation needs, often working directly with them to resolve issues.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- · Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering or related field required;
· Demonstrated server build technical and operational leadership experience in either high-volume or high-touch environments, with technology deployment background;
· High level Windows proficiency;
· Administrators-level proficiency in Linux (RedHat, Gentoo, Solaris experience) and scripting;
· Administrators-level with multiple Windows Server versions, GPO’s, Domain Management, and security;
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
· Able to work within a team and individually;
· Flexible to work on/off shift to meet client, market and internal requirements;
· Detailed documentation skill set;
•MSP and/or trading industry experience is a plus.
