The Systems Engineer assists more senior members to ensure reliable and smooth operation of all manufacturing IT infrastructure for a 24x7 commercial manufacturing facility in the site redundant Data Centers, including Windows servers, workstations and infrastructure related software, SAN storage, clustering technology, VMWare, Citrix, Active Directory, intrusion detection and IT infrastructure monitoring.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform and/or assist in performing tasks of low to moderate complexity with a strong emphasis on acquiring proficiency and learning key aspects of the job.
- Collaborate with IT team members, other groups and departments in the assessment of system changes and resolution of system related issues.
- Follow approved procedures for infrastructure maintenance and administration, including change and system management.
- Work under general supervision and work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall accuracy.
- Assist in updating or update and maintain procedures and system documentation.
- Perform system audits, monitoring and administration.
- Perform user account administration.
- Perform system backups and data archiving.
- Perform installation, configuration, upgrade, maintenance and troubleshooting of end-user peripheral devices (desktops, laptops, scanners, etc.).
- May interface with senior management and external personnel on technical matters requiring coordination between organizations.
- Participate and may lead in the design and implementation of site and global manufacturing IT projects of a low level of complexity.
- Provide end-user support.
- Perform other tasks of similar nature and level.
- Required to be part of on-call rotation for off-hours manufacturing support.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field with 2-4 years of experience or Master's Degree with 0-2 years of experience.
- Working knowledge and experience with Windows desktop and server hardware and software.
- Familiarity with most basic Windows system administration tools and processes.
- Strong desire and interest in working with computer systems.
- Experience in a cGMP operations environment or in other regulated environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Application support experience.
- Network support experience.
- Microsoft, Citrix training, experience and certification.
- SAN Storage/Server training, experience and certification.
- Experience with implementation and maintenance of operational and quality documentation for the system.
- Possess the analytical skills to quickly resolve system related issues.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self motivated with the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
