SELCO seeks energetic individual with enthusiasm for technology for a full-time, 40 hours per week, challenging professional opportunity.  The successful candidate must have proven ability to fulfill job responsibilities and job requirements within a dynamic regional environment and work closely with the Online Libraries participating in the SELCO consortium.  Job responsibilities and skill set include:

  • Manage and maintain servers, related equipment, and software including but not limited to:
    • Systems installation and configuration
    • Administration and daily operations
    • Troubleshooting and problem resolution
    • Backup and recovery operations
    • Security
    • Database management
    • Confidentiality of user and patron data
    • Systems operating environment
  • Manage and maintain SELCO’s Integrated Library System (ILS) and related third party systems
  • Manage and maintain server-based computing systems
  • Manage and maintain a virtual server environment
  • Manage a Storage Area Network (SAN)
  • Keep records of server software use in the SELCO office in cooperation with Finance Manager
  • Provide basic backup support for the network and workstations in cooperation with the Automation Librarian, User Technology Manager, Network Manager, and Help Desk Manager
  • Establish and maintain regular communication with Online Libraries, including formal bulletins and updates
  • Provide technical support for users, integrating positive customer service techniques
  • Share responsibilities for effectively staffing the SELCO Help Desk and support the Help Desk Team by providing instruction, documentation, technical information, and other assistance
  • Assist in technology planning and policy development, including participation in SELCO – Online Library committees
  • Create and maintain documentation on configurations, operating procedures, backups, data retention, and other facets of server and ILS operations
  • Share responsibility for safeguarding data and restoring services in an emergency as a member of the Disaster Recovery Team
  • Bachelors degree with 3 to 5 years experience in systems administration preferred; or at least 6 years of equivalent professional technical experience
  • Experience with and understanding of computer technology, including but not limited to Servers and Blade Server Arrays, Storage Area Networks, and PCs and related equipment
  • Experience with and understanding of Switches and Routers is desirable
  • Experience with and understanding of server operating systems, including but not limited to Windows, Linux, VMWare, and Citrix XenServer
  • Experience with and understanding of common server applications, such as, Email, DNS, Web, and Proxy
  • Experience with and understanding of database management systems, including SQL-compliant relational databases
  • Experience with and understanding of web development protocols and tools such as HTML, XML, and Java
  • Experience with and understanding of ILS software, with preference for experience with SirsiDynix Horizon
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and shift focus between multiple projects
