Systems Specialist Job
Systems Specialist ... embrace challenge and be a vital part of the big picture with this high activity West Suburban manufacturing company. Systems Specialist will be entrusted to execute elaborate projects that scope diverse disciplines involving out-sourcing freight payments, carrier/shipper performance reviews, sales quotes, and transportation metrics as well as flawless delivery of new methodologies to support the changing markets of the business. Systems/programming is a very significant aspect of this role.
Systems Specialist key responsibilities:
- take control of extensive systems/programming functions
- ensure sales proposals comply with corporate and federal transportation policies and regulations
- collaborate with management, financial staff and marketing personnel to facilitate contract negotiations
- prepare proposals involving planning and execution of new business or existing contract modifications; coordinate schedules
- document pricing procedures/polices for all US facilities, ensure nation-wide compliance with domestic transportation laws and maintain metrics to report progress
- assist with audits affecting the business, affiliates and freight carriers; develop corrective action plans to correct deficiencies or include new controls to meet regulatory changes
- assist with compliance for pricing addendums to carrier contracts, out-sourcing of third party freight payment and claims management, carrier/shipper performance review, CPU Metrics, sales quote processes
- implement bid pricing strategies representing sales team initiatives and goals
- assess performance and report to business leaders and service providers
- develop cost/price models, pricing strategies and risk assessment
- provide backup to Systems Applications Support Analyst
- elevate operational best practices procedures
- communicate service provider expectations
- monitor and mitigate problem escalations
- research and analyze date; prepare reports
Systems Specialist requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Transportation or Information Technology a MUST; MBA preferred
- well versed in SAP, SQL, Access, Excel and other MS Office applications required
- strong experience with statistical and trend analysis as well as data management and mining
- sharp understanding of report development, policies/processes, project plan development, and supplier contract review
- thorough knowledge of transportation legal documents (bills of lading, contracts, tariffs)
- outstanding communication rapport and leadership skills
- high degree of organization and problem solving skills
- flair for multi-tasking and prioritizing
