ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Systems Engineer is part of the EMEA IT Operations Group based in London. The Systems Engineer is responsible for third line support of a range of complex infrastructure systems serving the EMEA and global businesses. In addition, the Systems Engineer is responsible for a range of project delivery activities.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Provides deep, service and product specific knowledge in their assigned service areas for project delivery, problem management and issue resolution.
- Develops services and product specific skills in their assigned service teams.
- Acts as the Operations lead on projects implemented by the enterprise architecture group.
- Deploys, configures, and maintains the health of various infrastructure systems.
- Responsible for the day to day sustaining activities for the global enterprise.
- Develops, maintains, and executes documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Provides Tier 3 highest level internal escalation support for all systems and platforms.
- Analyzes and maintains periodic service performance data to ensure optimal usage of the resources available.
- Leads and is responsible for the completion of tasks, change controls, and responses to escalations and alerts for other engineers.
- Responsible for the execution and maintenance of:
- Operational Calendars
- Use and compliance with our Change Management Control Process
- Incident Problem Reporting and Tracking
- Use and compliance with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards when developing solutions
- Adherence to published Project Management Policies Procedures
Cover and resolve any outstanding Service Desk related issues in an effort to help all IT members resolve tickets as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Periodic travel required, sometimes with little notice.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in the design and operation of an enterprise environment.
Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 2008 deployment, configuration and troubleshooting in an enterprise environment.
Experience designing and managing a VMware vSphere enterprise environment.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience.
MCSE certification.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Thorough knowledge and understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, FTP, Print Services and Security Certificates.
Demonstrable experience with core Microsoft technologies: MS Windows Server, MS Clustering Services, MS Exchange, and MS SQL Server.
Experience working with NAS and SAN storage infrastructures in an enterprise environment
Knowledge of Citrix Xenapp, Presentation Server, Web Interface and Citrix Secure Gateway administration desired.
Understands and applies ITIL policies and procedures.
High level certification in core areas (MCITP, VCP)
Project Management Experience
