Market Operations and Technology
Activities: Market Operations and Technology (MOT) provides technology and market operations to Macquarie's businesses.
The Market Operations division provides independent specialist verification, confirmation and settlement facilities for a variety of products and currencies for many of Macquarie's businesses globally. The division provides a key segregated control function for wholesale businesses built on strong operational risk management and a control culture that is consistent and resilient.
Market Operations activities include:
- Corporate Actions
- Data Management Services
- Documentation
- Reconciliations and Controls
- Settlements
- Trade Support and Middle Office
The Technology Division is responsible for the management of Macquarie's technology infrastructure, the support and development of existing business systems and the delivery and deployment of new systems, technologies and services. It comprises business aligned teams which provide dedicated and specialist services to businesses as well as central teams which provide shared services, such as infrastructure, to multiple businesses.
Technology activities include:
- Managing Macquarie's technology infrastructure
- Supporting, maintaining and enhancing existing business systems
- Delivering and deploying new systems, technologies and services
- Ensures all technical hardware and software is provided to all users
- Operates the ITG Service Desk which provides IT support to all users
The Group provides each major business in Macquarie with a dedicated team that works closely with that business to understand its particular technology needs.
Macquarie provides specialist investment, advisory, trading and financial services in select markets around the world. We focus on areas of business where our particular skills and expertise deliver a real advantage for our clients, concentrating resources where we can add the most value.
This role is to work within the Philadelphia-based ITG team to provide database support and development to the Macquarie Funds Group business groups in Philadelphia.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, implement, maintain and support the business aligned database environment Lead database design and data modelling for planning and implementation of new solutions
- Design database maintenance schemes
- Fine-tuning and optimising poorly performing databases and the related infrastructure
- Provide remote assistance to application teams based in other countries within Macquarie
- Conduct capacity planning and management review on the database environment space
- Manage small to medium sized projects
- Update and maintain documentation on the database technology, processes and environments
- Provide technical consultancy to business units and other IT teams
- Initiate, manage and implement change

Minimum required experience:
- Must demonstrate very good fundamental skills in Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 and/or Sybase ASE v15
- Demonstrate good understanding of MS SQL / Sybase Problem and Performance Management tools and utilities in order to provide 3rd level of problem resolution
- Demonstrate experience in building out databases to support Business Project requirements
- Must show high level theoretical knowledge and practical experience on configuration, setup and management of Sybase databases.
