A Tax Accountant with Gentiva :
- Prepares business occupation/license forms, unclaimed property returns, and personal property tax returns and ensures timely and accurate filing. May assist as needed in the preparation of state and local sales and use tax, gross receipts tax returns, and income tax returns. Reviews general ledger for personal property tax payable accounts. Keeps abreast of new/changes to state/local sales/use, gross receipts, business occupation and personal property tax laws/regulations to assist in ensuring company compliance. Performs basic tax research as necessary under supervision of Tax Director or Sr Tax Accountant. Gathers/organizes necessary documents for federal and state and local audits as needed. May contact state and local tax agencies to resolve assessment notices and/or outstanding issues to ensure minimal penalties/interest as directed by the senior tax accountant or tax director. Reviews fixed/intangible asset reports and evaluates disclosure in personal property tax returns/renditions. Implements computerized tax return preparation systems. Utilizes technical research tools/software applications to complete projects and to design custom reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Must have basic knowledge of tax codes/regulations, returns and filing requirements.
- Strong spreadsheet skills required.
- Knowledge corporate tax software and property tax management system software desirable.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills also required.
