Overview
Deutsche Bank, a leading Global Investment Bank headquartered in Europe is looking to recruit a UK Tax specialist. The appointee will become an integral part of a team of 7 people dealing with UK Tax Compliance and Tax Accounting.
In respect of tax compliance, the team deals with all aspects of submission of returns, payments of tax, elections and negotiations with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) for some 160 or so companies. In respect of tax accounting, the team deals with UK GAAP and IFRS reporting requirements for the UK region. Tied in to this is the management of Sarbanes Oxley compliant processes and controls over tax balances.
There are also projects which the team work on with the wider tax department both in London and around the world. As well as new product approvals there is substantial work on Bank Levy and Senior Accounting Officer at this time.
The role will have input into all of the above areas in a quickly evolving and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Pulling together / review of UK tax returns and dealing with any queries thereon from UK tax authorities
- Monthly financial reporting of UK group entities’ tax figures under principally under IFRS including balance sheet reconciliation work
- Operation of SOX compliant controls
- Preparation / review of tax disclosures within UK financial statements
- Liaison with advisors (both internal and external ) to ensure accurate reflection of transactions within tax reporting
- Liaison with overseas colleagues on cross border issues and monthly financial reporting
- Input to UK group planning and payments processes including tax capacity.
Candidate requirements
You will have:
- Prior experience of completing at least one full reporting cycle incorporating preparation of statutory financial statements and related UK tax returns.
- Strong practical knowledge of tax compliance for UK Groups of companies.
- Good communication skills – your role will involve interaction at all levels up to Managing Director
- A willingness to learn and ability take on new responsibilities successfully within a constantly evolving environment
- Previous experience of working within financial services
You will be:
- A Qualified Accountant or equivalent
- Numerate, accurate and prepared to get involved in the detail - a proactive, enquiring approach is essential
