The Tax Analyst (TA) is mainly responsible for day to day tax administration of investment funds and that tax treatments are correctly applied. The calculation of the Luxembourg subscription tax and the value added tax is also part of the responsibilities of the TA.

The TA is responsible for tasks such as funds’ tax certifications and documentation requirements for reduction at source, reclaims process and all queries related to taxes between fund groups and clients.

The TAs’ responsibility is an integral part of the delivery of quality service in order to minimise the exposure to the bank due to tax matters. His actions must be considered as part of this overall goal. Achieving quality of service is a team effort and the TA needs to function at all times as a team player.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY

1. Cover for vacation and other absences.

2. Cross train the staff within the department.

3. Assist fund groups in problem solving on tax matters and liaise with Boston tax services if required.

4. Provide information as requested by the auditors.

5. Perform in special projects and other tasks as assigned by the manager

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare Fund Documents

- Prepare documents for reduction at source and liaise with the local tax authorities and clients
 
• Tax Reclaims Filing, Follow-up and Reconciliation

- File all tax reclaims according to the standard procedure.
- Monitor and control the open tax reclaims through all the stages via follow-up with Boston tax team.
- Receive tax reclaims forms from Boston and collect all the necessary signatures (either POA in place, clients or Luxembourg tax authorities to sign) and send them back to Boston.

• Tax tables

- Identify the impacts for the funds on the tax news.
- Attend the calls with tax area in Boston and request some clarification when required.
- Review the tax changes performed in BGTT and inform the FG.
- Respond to any queries from the FG, custody teams and clients.

• Luxembourg subscription tax and value added tax.

- Calculate the subscription tax for all the Lux. Funds on a quarterly basis.
- Prepare the tax declaration of the value added tax for the relevant funds.
- Make sure that all the payments are processed.
- Send proper reminders if payment not done and maintain statistics.
 
 QUALIFICATIONS

• 2 years Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Finance or equivalent, or above

• Ideally 2 years in a tax unit environment or 3 years in the fund industry
• Good knowledge of Luxembourg investment fund legal structures
• Knowledge about Luxembourg regulations
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Outlook
• Access data base would be an advantage

Language Skills
• Good command of written and oral English
• Good command of written and oral French
• German and/or Luxemburgish (is an advantage)
