Tax Assistant Manager / Manager, International Executive Services (IES), Shanghai recruitment

KPMG offers an extensive range of compliance and advisory services to international organisations to help them control the cost of transferring employees between their home countries and Hong Kong.

It covers the development of policies and related remuneration packages, cross-border solutions between mainland China and Hong Kong, reviews of international assignment programs, pensions, tax, human resources advice, completion of tax returns (for both the US and Hong Kong) for assignees and advanced technology-based solutions. The IES client portfolio ranges from large multinational companies to local start-ups. 

We are now seeking a high-calibre tax professional to fulfil the role of Tax Manager and support the continued growth of our IES team in Hong Kong. The ideal candidate will bring a commercial and analytical mind and have very strong written and spoken English skills. Knowledge of the Hong Kong tax system is essential.

Responsibilities

• Have very strong understanding of Hong Kong and US tax legislation and be able to apply it to client issues
• Ensure lodgement of client tax returns within filing deadlines
• Responsible for working with clients to develop tax efficient solutions which address their business needs
• Participate in business development activities and gain new work from existing clients
• Coach junior members of staff to help them achieve their goals. You will also review and manage their work.
• Have knowledge of relevant non-tax legal, financial and business information
• Regularly expand your knowledge of the tax business and keep up-to-date with the latest business and current affairs as it relates to your clients
• Deal with tax authority enquiries in a tax effective manner. Have a very strong understanding of the tax legislation and case law and be able to apply it to client issues.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ tax experience in a professional firm
• Experience in handling complex technical issues concerning employee remuneration e.g., equity plans, dual contracts, pensions, etc
• Strong presentation skills with an excellent command of spoken and written English
• Possess good client relationship skills in responding to client enquiries
• Well-organized, ability to meet multiple deadlines and work under pressure
• Self-starter and good team player
• Degree in Accounting / Finance / Law or any other business related discipline, and a professional qualification (tax, legal, or accounting)
