Tax Assistant

We are currently searching for a Tax Assistant for one of our top clients in Miami.  Our client is a multi-billion dollar publicly traded company that has been reporting records earnings for the past year and continues to grow.  This Tax Assistant will report directly the a key member of the Corporate Tax team (VP of Tax) and will indirectly support the overall Tax team.  The candidate will be a key member of a team-oriented environment working on executive assistant matters, tax compliance, and accounting projects. This is a great position for a candidate looking to get a foot in the door within a large public fast growing company.   


The Tax Assistant should obtain the ability to facilitate support to other executive positions and must possess the ability to manage and handle company projects. This individual is required to carry themselves well in business conferences and meetings and must represent the executive in important business functions and communications with a variety of individuals.  In addition to these crucial roles of an tax assistant, the candidate must be able to perform tasks such as correspondence with management, preparing company communications, research, coordinating appointments, scheduling events, preparing reports, etc. Help obtain appropriate tax data reports, analyze, and tax reconcile filings. Preparation and filing of state local annual reports, business licenses and registrations. Assist with the timely compliance for all telecom, sales/use, gross receipts, excise, special taxes, communications service, utility user's and use taxes.  Assist with maintaining compliance calendars and monthly G/L account analysis to ensure balances accurately reflect liabilities.   Assist in the management of monthly data consolidation, return and payment preparation, remittance, accruals and G/L analysis reconciliations. Assist with researching tax laws and related legislation and regulations regarding these taxes.  Compile data for and ensure that all returns are timely filed throughout the year.  Proactive in communicating possible tax saving opportunities to management.  Assist in the preparation and maintenance of budgets and accruals for relevant taxes. Special projects and research as needed


Required Skills: Education: BA or BS in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or Business.
Highly organized, deadline oriented, detailed and project oriented individual. Ability to work well independently and w/colleagues from various other departments. General Accounting as well as financial analyst experience a plus. Intermediate Microsoft Excel and pivot table experience required Experience in research High attention to detail. Takes initiative, self-starter, curious, fast learner. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and at a fast pace. Excellent communications and presentation skills.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel (creation of worksheets, ability to navigate existing worksheets, create formulas), Word (create and navigate documents, understand tabbing, margins, labels, paging), PowerPoint (basics only).
