Position Description:
Within Morgan Stanley, the Tax Department is responsible for providing tax-related advisory and services to the Firm's businesses, including investment banking, institutional equities, fixed income, wealth management and asset management.
In Asia Pacific, the Regional Tax Department is currently looking for an Executive Director to head up the China Tax Team.
Based in Beijing, this role will be leading three tax professionals (in Shanghai) to manage Morgan Stanley's China tax matters.
Core responsibilities:
- Provide tax advice to front office businesses and infrastructure departments
- Manage routine tax compliance of Morgan Stanley entities in China, including tax audits
- Work with senior management with respect to process enhancement, capital planning and structuring opportunities
- Supervise and develop the China Tax Team
- Manage external tax advisors
Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy
- CPA qualification necessary
- 12 - 15 years of experience as an international tax manager in Big 4 accounting firms or corporate tax experience within financial services industry, including extensive exposure in China tax compliance
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Mandarin essential
- Team management experience necessary
- Willingness to be a hands-on team leader with a desire to supervise and develop staff
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment
- Those currently residing outside of Beijing should be prepared for relocating to Beijing at their own cost
