Main Duties

Ensure timely analysis and disclosure as required for both Group level and local reporting purposes

Ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax returns

Ensure proper exposure analysis

Respond as required to external tax authority inquiry

Advise on product and transactional issues as they arise from front office or through internal tax initiatives, including working with external counsel to ensure the appropriate tax provisions are embedded in the documentation and that the documentation will be respected by CRA.

Implement and evaluate procedures/controls to mitigate Canadian tax risk, including guidelines required by Corporate Tax.

Assist with GST/HST tax filings and examinations.

Assist in writing, monitoring, and updating tax rules in the various Barclays systems, as SRA and Openlink.

Assist with implementing the new Canadian information reporting regime.

Monitor Canadian tax legislation and update senior management on any legislation that could impact Barclays.

Work closely with global transfer pricing personnel to ensure consistency in methodologies

Represent tax on all New Product and Transaction Review Committees with a Canadian impact

Person Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

8+ years experience in canadian tax compliance and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree a plus.

Strong analytic, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
