TAX COMPLIANCE MANAGER
Virginia Commonwealth University is
seeking a Tax Compliance Manager.
Reporting to the University Controller,
the Tax Compliance Manager stays
current on tax reporting and compliance
developments, provides guidance on
issues related to tax reporting and
compliance, makes recommendations
to management, acts as an educator
and outreach representative for tax
areas, partners with administrators to
facilitate tax compliance, directs and
oversees preparation of various tax
filings, and develops policies and
procedures.
Qualifications: The successful candidate
must have an advanced degree or training
and work experience at a level which equates
to an advanced degree; CPA and/or JD
preferred; a proven ability to work collegially
in a complex environment with other senior
university officials, faculty and leaders; an
in-depth knowledge of accounting and
taxation principles with a minimum of five
years experience with tax rules affecting
colleges and universities; demonstrated
ability to undertake research and provide
interpretation, strategic advice and support
for decision-making; demonstrated ability
to engage in problem solving, dispute
resolution, and policy development activities;
excellent written and oral communication
skills; the ability to think in a progressive
and collaborative manner with University
stakeholders and demonstrated experience
working in and fostering a diverse faculty,
staff, and student environment or
commitment to do so as a faculty member
at VCU.
