Our client is a top-tier international banking group with a strong presence both in Asia and globally. Their business lines encompass consumer / corporate / wholesale banking and other successful functions. Due to new initiatives and business expansion, they are looking to recruit a Tax Manager to support the tax compliance and tax advisory function.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of tax-related initiatives focused on many of these key business lines across Hong Kong, as well as the rest of the APAC region. You will be involved in various tax projects, providing various ad-hoc tax advisory and compliance support to the various units (mainly under the bank in HK and its subsidiaries). The position will involve assisting in reviewing tax provisions, commentaries on local effective tax rates, collating tax returns and timely monitoring of controls. There is a strong employee development plan in place, and the candidate will grow and develop within the team. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with either in-house corporate tax experience in financial services or an investment bank, or for a Big-4 candidate with Banking clients, focusing on Corporate Tax.
To qualify, individuals must possess:
- A university degree and a professional Accounting Qualification
- 5-10 years' experience, within a tax compliance / advisory position, either in Big-4 or in financial services
- Wholesale Banking product knowledge is advantageous
- Hong Kong tax exposure is essential, international tax knowledge in China, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, etc, is desirable
- A flexible, proactive and innovative approach
- Excellent communication levels in English, both spoken and written, is essential. Chinese language skills would be advantageous.
