Tax Planning Manager

Kforce is seeking a Tax Planning Manager for a Burlington, Massachusetts Client's Company. Functions: * Manage and implement U.S. Federal and State Corporate Income Tax planning; identify, research, and develop new tax planning opportunities * Conduct research and prepare memoranda to support U.S. Federal and State Tax planning positions previously taken including defending positions on audit * Research tax structuring and tax diligence issues relating to acquisitions and dispositions; consider tax planning opportunities arising from recent acquisitions * Identify U.S. Federal, State, and Local Tax credits and incentives for material businesses and jurisdictions * Work with the Corporate Tax Department's Compliance, Analysis, and Reporting Function to obtain and analyze the appropriate data to support tax planning * Track changes in Federal, State, and Local Tax Law as well as proposed legislative and regulatory changes; with an eye to identifying implementable opportunities * Manage outside tax advisors on Federal and State Tax Planning and controversy projects * Effectively communicate our expectations and goals to outside tax advisors and manage Tax Advisor Budgets * Assist Tax Counsel in presenting tax planning ideas to internal departments * Help to build the Corporate Tax Department's brand within the Company * Support Tax Counsel in representing the Corporate Tax Department on the Company's Credits and Incentives (C/I) Board; identify additional credits and work with outside advisors on maximizing tax credits and incentives as well as participate in C/I Board Meetings * Support the Tax Counsel in identifying tax issues and implementing opportunities relating to Company-wide sustainability initiatives * Attend multi-department meetings as a representative of the Corporate Tax Department The successful applicant will possess the following requirements (items are required unless noted otherwise): * 8 years of U.S. Federal Corporate Income Tax experience * Candidates with experience in or a willingness to develop skills in State and Local Taxes and International Taxes are also encouraged to apply * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Strong project management skills, possessing the ability to multi-task and identify tasks that can be delegated to other team members * Must be highly organized with the ability to manage multiple internal resources and outside advisors on long-term projects * The ability to work independently of the Tax Counsel, solve problems, and take ownership of broad tax planning ideas / concepts and develop actionable step plans * The ability to effectively interface with Company Personnel outside the Tax Department with a premium being placed on explaining complex tax concepts to non-tax personnel in a clear and concise manner * The desire to grow personally and professionally within our organization; with a view towards promotion and being in the position to develop other Tax Professionals * Must be proficient in MS Excel with the ability to quantify Tax Benefits related to planning ideas in a concise manner understandable by professionals outside the Tax Department * JD (admitted to practice) or a CPA
