Position Description:
Morgan Stanley's Tax Technology group is responsible for managing the systems, processes, and data flows of the corporate tax department. We serve as a liaison between various groups within the tax department and between the tax department and other groups both inside and outside the firm. One of the critical functions of the group is to leverage technology tools to create process efficiencies and controls. We are also responsible for determining how changing laws and business environments impact our data flows and processes. Our group faces constant challenges both from within because of our dynamic business environment and from without via changing requirements from global taxing authorities and regulators. We are looking to add more members to our team. The ideal candidate is a professional with a good tax or accounting background and an interest in leveraging technology to develop sound processes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Managing and improving the flow of data from our financial systems to our tax compliance applications.
• Support the tax compliance functions in a technology capacity.
• Assist in streamlining the system maintenance work needed during the quarterly and year-end process.
• Gather and define business requirements for IT related projects.
• Coordinate software development project tasks between tax personnel and IT development groups.
• Assist in testing and certifying results of application development initiatives.
• Assist in review and support of third-party products, including evaluating and implementing third-party tax software applications.
• Assist in documenting policies and procedures.
• Participate on various project teams.
• Assist with tax department SOX 404 requirements for IT applications.

Skills Required:
• Bachelors degree preferably in Accounting, Technology or Finance
• 3+ years of tax or accounting experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills
• CORPTAX experience is a plus
• Self-motivated and a strong team player
• MS office (Advanced)
• Data management and data quality assurance skills
• An understanding of corporate taxation is a plus but not required
