Taxation Manager – Macquarie Group recruitment
Macquarie's Banking and Financial Services Group (BFS) is the retail arm and primary relationship manager with retail clients and financial advisers for Macquarie's operations in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America and Europe.
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably talented individual to join a team that provides taxation advice to a range of business units within BFS as well as providing guidance to external advisers on a range of taxation matters. The team has a strong reputation as a leader and innovator in its area of expertise.
The role will suit a tax professional who is looking to further build their career in the financial services industry, ideally with 3 or more years of financial services industry tax experience.
Reporting directly to the Division Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring that BFS products are compliant with current taxation legislation;
- Monitoring any legislative developments and subsequently influencing how these are to be adopted within BFS;
- Identifying practical approaches to the implementation of tax laws;
- Communicating taxation developments to internal and external stakeholders;
- Liaising with the ATO and other third parties, as required;
- Identifying improvements on existing tax practises and processes;
- Providing guidance to financial advisers in relation to non-super tax issues; and
- Providing training and support to internal stakeholders regarding technical tax concepts;
Ideally, the successful candidate will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in areas such as accounting/commerce, business, finance or law
- Completed (or be willing to complete) the CA, CPA or similar program
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- A demonstrated interest in finance, investment and superannuation
- Attention to detail and the ability to grasp new concepts quickly
- The ability to work unsupervised and be self-motivated
